Design That Communicates

For me, good design is about more than creating something visually appealing— it is about finding the right way to communicate an idea, organize information, and connect with an audience. This portfolio brings together graphic design, editorial, presentation, marketing, and digital projects that reflect my approach to thoughtful visual communication and creative problem solving.

Publications & Editorial Design

Girl Scout Newsletter

Girl Scout Newsletter Series

Created a two-issue newsletter series from scratch for a Girl Scout troop, designed specifically for troop families. Developed the editorial concept around the familiar feeling of a home bulletin board, using a collection of notes, reminders, and announcements to create an approachable visual experience. Wrote the copy from provided information, incorporated supplied photography, and organized troop updates, activities, and upcoming events into a cohesive publication designed to keep families informed and engaged.

Making Confident Decisions Presentation

Making Confident Decisions

Created and presented a visual summary of key takeaways from a professional training on confident decision-making as part of a team skill-development initiative. Wrote and organized the presentation content, selected layouts and company-approved visual assets, and worked within established brand guidelines for fonts and colors. Connected the training concepts to team and company goals and KPIs, then presented the takeaways to peers to support shared learning and more effective decision-making.

Tone of Voice Training Presentation

Tone of Voice Training

Developed a training presentation from concept to delivery as part of an interview for a Trainer position. Selected and researched a topic relevant to my peers' roles, developing the content around practical skills that could be applied to the team's work. Connected the topic back to team responsibilities and goals while designing the presentation within established company branding, approved fonts, colors, and visual assets. Built the presentation for a live audience, incorporating animation and audience participation while working within a defined time limit. Presented the completed training to a group of trainers and the trainer manager, demonstrating presentation design, communication, and facilitation skills.

Foundational Project

A self-directed concept project exploring a social platform designed to help new and expectant mothers connect, plan meetups, and discover community events. Developed the concept and complete visual direction from the ground up, including logo, color palettes, typography, layouts, and a foundational style guide. Created two color directions to demonstrate alternate approaches to the same brand concept and developed the work as a practice client proposal.

Geek Bytes logo

Geek Bytes

Foundational Project

A self-directed concept project for a recipe platform inspired by fandoms and geek culture. Developed the name "Geek Bytes" as a play on "bites" and "bytes," then created the logo from scratch around the concept. Used an 8-bit visual style to reinforce the digital/nerdy theme, incorporating a playful creature into the "e" in "Bytes" to create a visual connection to the idea of taking a bite.

Hero's Haven

Foundational Project

A self-directed branding concept inspired by a potential comic book shop called Hero’s Haven. Developed the logo and visual identity around the bold, energetic language of classic comic books, using bright colors, expressive typography, stylized action graphics, and halftone textures inspired by traditional comic-book printing. The project challenged me to translate a specific halftone treatment I had envisioned into a workable Illustrator effect, strengthening my confidence in solving unfamiliar design problems.
